HOTSA Varmint BR Silhouette Results

The HOTSA club hosted a Varmint BR Silhouette match with 10 folks coming to challenge their skills against 1 MOA targets out to 500 meters. Here is the results:

Match Dates: Saturday, September 26, 2015. 40 shot match starting at 9:00 am.

Location: HOTSA Gun Club

Director: Kenny Tebbe

Open to: Anyone who wants a challenging yet fun shoot at Texas varmint & predator targets.

Entries: No limit on entries as we can handle up to 72 competitors.

Entry Fees: $20 for Adults and $10 for Juniors. Fees will go toward the purchase of steel targets and moving the range. Tipping the target setters is optional but encouraged (it’s better than setting our own)

Squadding: In Silhouette shooting, indicate your spotter & squadding preferences when you check in at the match.

Rules: Will be posted and explained at the match but each shooter must have someone confirming their hits/misses and marking their scorecard while they are firing.

Awards: 1st place in each category (Heavy BR (Unlimited), Semi Auto, and Varmint/Tactical)

Equipment: Bring your own equipment. You will need a shooting mat if you plan to shoot prone or a portable shooting bench if you are going to shoot from the bench. (These can be purchased at Keith’s Ace Hardware or see HOTSA.org for other options.) Front rest, rear bag rest, spotting scope and tripod, minimum of 60 rounds of ammo appropriate rifle with scope.

Driving Directions to the WHGC Shooting Range

From Fairfield, take Hwy 27 west. Pass through Wortham and continue on Hwy 27 for 6 miles
At FM 638 (a big lake on your right) Turn Right
Go 2 miles north on 638 to the First county road on Left is LCR 214 a gravel road (you can see a bridge a few hundred yards ahead of you on 638) Turn Left
Go 1 mile to the “T” with LCR 218 (218 is on your Right) Turn Right
Follow road around bend and up the hill. Large Red and Blue gates on your left is the WHGC Range
From Waco, take Hwy 84 east toward Mexia. At Prairie Hill, turn left on FM 73, 8 miles to Coolidge.
Road “T’s” into Hwy 171, turn Right and go a few miles to Hwy 27 on your left. Turn Left Travel about 1 mile to first road on left, LCR 218, Turn Left. Go about 4 miles down this road, it will make a 90 degree turn to the right. Another mile and you will see the Red and Blue gate on your right.
