Richard Milton has left the range.

My shooting partner and traveling partner, Richard Milton has passed away. For the last few years, he has been in poor health and passed away while in a nursing home. Some of you may remember his championship years as the long range pistol champion. Richard enjoyed several types of shooting and he was a do-it-myself type who made his own bullets and chambered his own rifles. He had a special love for score (1st picture) and the specialty pistols.

Sorry to hear of Richards passing.. There's getting to be fewer and fewer from that era of shooting.
Hope all is well with you James. Been a long time !!

I recall you introducing him to me at the Supershoot one year. Nice guy.

Was nice seeing you a couple of years ago James.

Take care.

I feel your pain. This not a trite expression, but heart felt. I pray that the Lord will bring some blessing of peace and comfort to you and his family.

I have lost so many shooting, hunting, and farmer friends in the last 10 years that sometimes I feel like I am on Robinson Crusoe Island. I imagine I am not alone in this feeling along with other older shooters / hunters.

In addition, I do not relate too well to the new crop of shooters at the range, almost all are semi- auto "blasters", not precision shooters. Where once going to the range was an enjoyable and relaxing experience, I find myself sometimes dreading approaching the range at the two club where I belong. The constant blasting of 10 to 20 rounds of sustained fire, dodging flying hot brass, unsafe gun handling, and downright impoliteness is leaving me wonder if it isn't time to give the whole damn thing up.

James, so sorry for the loss of your friend I remember shooting with Richard in the pistol matches. He was a great guy.

Sorry to hear we lost another one of the good guys.
I remember one of my last conversations I had with Richard at the Super Shoot in 2007 or 08 and the struggles he had trying to reload rimfire ammunition and how he had blown up a couple actions trying to figure it out.
Very sad day indeed to find out he is no longer with us.
