Return to shooting….

Upon returning to competition shooting after a 12+ year sabbatical it has become apparent to me that I need to step up my equipment game significantly. Playing with my Chargemaster and 2 other digital scales convinced me that I need to invest in a whole new powder dispensing setup first.
I’m looking to purchase a unit that is very accurate and repeatable, capable of being powered a couple of ways (110, 12v jump box, other?), and portable enough to use at the range. I saw some interesting units at the recent Tack Driver but I know nothing about these plexiglass enclosed mini-towers that I saw on a lot of benches. I see the term auto-trickler and supertrickler and V3 and V4 and others bantered about and have gotten confused.
I guess I’m looking for advice on what to consider buying…..
What say you Bart??

My V3 works very well, and I have no urge to upgrade; however, there are many who have to have the latest which leads to many used systems for sale. The window is closing for those sales, so don't wait if you're serious about buying one.

V4 with the FX120i scale is an amazing tool--The faster you get one the sooner you can scratch powder charge off your list of things to worry about

Well,

I can get an enclosure for V3, V4 or Super Trickler.

The Super Tricker has a learning curve. But it’s fast once you figure it out. I really like that’s it’s one unit. For travel I leave scale and ST in the enclosure. I pull the plate off the scale and place a small towel around the ST to keep it from wiggling and go. Also no cell phone required. All inputs are done on a touch screen.

The V4 is much easier to learn, not quite as fast as the ST, but fast enough. Preparing for it for travel and setting it back up takes a bit more work. You’ll need a smart phone to operate it. Pro Tip: before you take it to a match with a bunch of V3s or V4s. Learn what the code is for your V3/V4. At the Tack drive there were at least 8 units and your phone will list all 8. So you get to play Russia Roulette with Powder Throwers.

Other options V3, which is a bit faster than the V4, but has a separate Trickler to deal with. The extra cables and Trickler can be cumbersome when traveling with the unit. I always took extra cables and a replacement belt for the Trickler.

V3/V4 with ingenuity is very fast and Accurate. Probably has the least overthrows of any of the units. Extra cables and separate Trickler apply. I personally don't like having to change disc for different powders.
For the cost of the unit, I also don’t care for having to cannibalize a motor from my Trickler to get it to run.

Ingenuity is coming out with its own thrower and Trickler unit. It looks promising. At first glance I’m not crazy about the extra electronic pad (and wires) for inputs.

Tagging in, I sent a deposit for a Prometheus 3-4 months ago, I think I’ll probably go a different direction though, it’s an amazing machine but once the designer/inventor is no longer around to service it I‘m not sure it will be worth the investment.

Considering ST, V4 or something along those lines, this will be a good thread to watch….
