Retiring my ole 6BR

DogBuster

Silver $$ Contributor
Built this 6BR in 2002....Pac Nor set it up nutless..12 twist heavy tube

Old Savage 4.27" solid bottom shot..SSS trigger....estimated 13K rds out....

After 16+ years I finished up the last 50 rds this morning....went out with a bang..

dogs were in the 325-550 yd arena.....for those guys that have done '2-Fers'

Got two 2-fers...yep...4 dogs with two shots...they were lined up just right......

So my last 50 rds took out 39 p/dogs.....70 gr Nosler BT and Benchmark & Lapua brass

Going to stick with the 20 cal's & 223AI for my dog guns......scope...dies...brass all sold

The 6BR is soooo well mannered....long barrel & brass life....been a good ole girl......:)

not sure.........may sell action/stock........or........

change bolt face.......build a 6x45 barrel...........

DogBuster...why limit yerself...I am going to continue to shoot my 6br at the rats...been nailing them
at extreme long range with the 87 grain v-max in mine. :p:D Just spin a new barrel on and you are
back in business. However I don't own a 6x45 either.:D Love that yellow bellied marmot too!. I have
watched them come out and gather up a bunch of prairie rats into a pile for future eating I suppose. :D

6x45 would be easy.......dies & brass.....65 V max......we'll see

I have a very high mileage 20 Practical too.....maybe a new one of those...

9 twist......for when Hornady builds a 50 V max for the 20

the Weasel..very ballsy......at my feet under my shootin' table.......o_O

You serious - 13,000 rds out of one barrel???

That is unbelievable. So is the opportunity to shoot at some many

You have a savage with a great trigger, order a barrel and keep it shooting. I understand the 20 cal and 223AI go to option. But the memories in that gun must live on.......

Just finished s 6x45 on ar platform.
Promising in first round of load work.
Shooting .3" with 70 gr nosler by varmageddon.
Going to run some Berger 70 tbsp varmints next.
I'm sure with a bolt gun your accuracy will be far better than I can get with a gas gun.

I am of the opinion that many barrels are discarded before their time because of problems unrelated to barrel wear. Capabilities to group under or within 1 inch @ 100 will kill rodents up to 400 yards - provided.

Great photo's of the rodent killer. I liked its (he she?) imperious expression. I have seen badgers working the rodent dens but the badgers use brute force to dig the rodents out. I would guess that the little guy has bad breath and is a cunning killer (neck hold - 1 fer?).

Mrs. Fyrewall's .204 has about 3,000 - 3,500 rounds through it and gets 1 moa at 300 yards.
