Retirement

Today I heard through the grape vine that I was retiring next year. Not unless I win the lottery lol. I am going to try all little bit of a different scheduling process and have not taken in much work recently because I am trying to get caught up but retirement is not in my future for a very very long time probably ever. Just FYI

Retirement my ass! Daughter got divorced a few years ago with two kids (twins 8 yrs old). Now I’m Pop-Pop to a whole new generation. I don’t remember having this much fun as a dad. Only problem is they never shut up, now if I can just find the “Off” switch……..maybe I need a Toddie?

If you have enough money to do what you want, retirement can be a good thing.

if you don’t, you will get discouraged, depressed, turn into a couch potato, get fat, sick and die.

I’m 74, I am part of the ownership of a thriving Machine Shop business, and I have no plans to “retire”.

I love what I do. I like being in charge. I have a fear of being a “Usta”.

A lot of my coworkers made fun of me as every year I would take off when the local farmers would cut the hay to go groundhog hunting. From 1995 till 2013 I took off every year to go prairie dog hunting in South Dakota. I watched a lot of my older coworker friends who work their asses off all their lives to have a good retirement and a good life to retire and die in less than a year. I made up my mind that was not going to happen to me I was going to do what I wanted when I wanted, while I still could, luckily I had a job that afforded me to be able to do that. Now after working all those hours all that overtime to be able to afford what I wanted to do, life comes around to bite you in the ass. I woke up from my second back operation and was told that I was one slip and fall away from a wheelchair and that I should not go back to pipe fitting. Now my back does not allow me to stand very long I cannot sit very long I do not believe I can make the trip to South Dakota anymore without it taking three or four days. So I went out on disability and I make stocks as I can. Some days I feel great other days I have a hard time getting out of bed and getting down the steps. I have mixed emotions about retirement.
