Retired 1-1-26

9/26/25 was my retirement date. 50 yrs of 50 hr weeks behind me. It took a little while to adjust to the freedom. It didn't take long for my calendar to start filling up but it is now filled with good things and fun things, not meaningless meetings, conference calls, and business trips.

Congratulations. Well earned I'm sure. Sounds like a good variety of things to do and now time to enjoy them. Stay safe.
ETA I hope your forum name refers to your horse and not car. :)

Thanks everyone for your well-wishes, advice, and some of your experiences. Kelbro, 50 years! Holy mackerel! That’s a long time. Congratulations are very much in order to you.

The hardest part will be separating from my co-workers #1, the good officials, and many residents. But it was the right time for me to leave. 62, under very good circumstances, and with the mindset of pursuing all those hobbies and interests I have. Leo_B, my screen name references my Pinto which is a hobby drag car (bracket racing). Began in my teens, still have it, and another thing on my list of to-do’s. Drop a V-8 in a light car, go fast. Not much of what was OEM remains, just the shell.

Thank again for all the wisdom, congratulations, shared experiences, and support.
Peter.

08/01/2024 for me. I worked 7months after part time and then retired for good 04/01/2024. The part time helped with the transition. Now my days are mine except when my wife has other ideas. Gym 4-5 days a week, plus deer season, and other hobbies keep me busy.

Enjoy the rest of your life.

Congratulations. I worked 7 days a week and on call 24 hrs a day. Retired a couple years ago at 75 and having a great time shooting , loading and repeat. Planned forever to do this and never thought I could handle it. First thing I did was have the business phone shut off and no one gets my cell.
Happy Daze.

I've been retired just over 16 years. Guess I must be a lazy person but I have never once misses working since I retired. I find plenty to occupy my time. I do my own yard work, have a small home machine shop and watch way more YouTubes than I should I guess. I also work at rehabbing ancient neglected cemeteries.

I also shoot a full Score Benchrest schedule and all that goes with that. Life is good but one needs to have interests beyond their profession to succeed at retirement.

l retired after 50 years working for the Fed Govt. 30 years Civil Service/US Army. Another 20 for a DOE contractor. First of month/gubmint cks are GREAT:-)
