Results, NBRSA Gulf Coast Region Varmint for Score Championship

South West Louisiana Rifle and Pistol Club hosted the NBRSA Gulf Coast Region VFS Championship Sunday on a hot and humid day.

After the dust settled, Dwayne Pullum was crowned the Region Champion.

Joe, I got the “agony of defeat” award.

I was going along great for the first 4 Matches at 200, sitting clean with 13 X’s. All I had to do was clean the last target.

I was shooting a straight away to slight orange condition, (left to right), and on the bull and doing great. On the bulls eye shown, the instant I let it go I saw green. Not much, but enough to push the bullet out enough to miss the edge of the moth ball.

I even put up the $10 to get it rechecked. Every body agreed it was a miss, with the reticle, maybe by .010 of an inch. If you look, it appears that the bullet did not go straight through, possibly a little bit of yaw, because the darned hole it cut was a full .308. No help from Mr reticle.

Of course, when going head to head with Dwayne, you can’t make a mistake like this, because he darned sure won’t.


That .010 cost me the yardage win, the grand Agg Win, and of course the Region Championship win.

This can truly be a ”a game of thousandths of an inch”.
