RESULTS Central Pa. Airgun Match 11/16

No excuse your too old to shoot a springer airgun match. 84 year old Nick Watcher who will be 85 in January shot his way into second place today. Shooting an Air Arms TX200 Nick showed work and skill over comes age. Nick is pretty regular hitting the winners list both here and at the 10 meter winter league. Next match is December 21. Two changes coming for next year will be the inclusion of .22 caliber springers. The .177 and .22 targets will be caliber specific. Our half point worst edge scoring for the bonus points means the .22 target is actually larger than the .177 target. A competitor could shoot in a second class next year with one of the Olympic style springers that either use a sledge recoil system or one with opposing pistons. These rifles while not necessarily more accurate than others are easier to shoot accurately. Thats pretty exciting news. I hope i can still shoot my springer at that age. I bet that guy still does push ups, and sit ups every day.
A strong core, clear mind, and confidence wins a match every time, regardless of that the rifle, or wind wants to do.
Congratulations
Ive gotten back into my springers and ive had nothing but good laughs, an excuse to get out of the house and have little competition in the back yards of a few different friends homes. My friends play around with airgun but nothing serious.
Ive been active back in the Air Gun Forums and just generally miss the world of air guns.
You can pretty much shoot anywhere you have a clear path and decent backstop. Its inexpensive to shoot , there is alot of beautiful equipment available and outstanding pellet selection. And most of the folks are fun people who like to eat donuts, drink coffee, and shoot pellets
What is not to love about it

Where is it held? "range" looks familiar but I don't think I have been to Central PA to any range

The range is in downtown Altoona near the hospital. There is a 2 level showroom and a 25 yard indoor rifle pistol range downstairs. Upstairs is a 25 yard archery/airgun range. Most all the upstairs activity is Springer airgun. There is also a kitchen dining area upstairs we have full use of. The range is heated and air conditioned. There are a couple levels of membership. For both myself and my wife for everyday full privileges its 360.00 per year. Cheap entertainment less than 10 minutes from our home. 20241117_082135.jpg20240525_080511.jpg

I forgot to add it is owned by active and retired Pa St Police members and is partially staffed by them also. They offer various levels of training by certified instructors. Among our shooters are two active in one of the national long range rimfire rifle games. Last I knew one was #1 in the country in his age group and in a different age group the other was #2.
