Restoration of a 40XBBR

I have a 40XBBR in 222 Remington with a Remington 20X scope. I either have the original trigger mixed in with a pile of other triggers or I put it in a REAL safe place ! I bought the rifle used in the early 70’s so I would expect that it would be one of the early ones. Can someone who’s into these post a picture of one OR….. in case I can’t find the REAL safe place does someone have one they could part with and not take advantage of an “ old pfart who can’t find chit “ ! ?!?

The 40x triggers have an external adjustment screw or an Allen screw that is visible from the bottom next to the bolt release.

My 40XBBR trigger had an adjustment screw located vertically in front of the trigger, the weight of pull adjustment could be adjusted without removing the action from the stock.

drover
This is the standard trigger that came on all 40X rifles of the 40XB-BR era, unless you opted for the 2 oz. trigger. The standard trigger functioned no differently (and had the same range of pull) from the 700 trigger of the same era; it just had the pull adjustment (trigger adjusting screw in drover's diagram above) where it could be accessed without removing the rifle from the stock. The 2 oz. trigger was an extra cost option (will post picture of factory description in a couple of hours) and came without safety and was described as "not adjustable". Serious BR shooters normally opted for the 2 oz. on the BR models and years ago I ordered a new 7mm Mag. 40XB with the 2 oz. version for prone shooting. Had to be pretty careful what with all the moving around with a sling on the ground.

40X models.jpegBob Pease price list 1985.jpegThis is a copy of 1985 Bob Pease flyer which uses the factory model info. It contains information on the 2 oz. trigger -- read the description of both the top 2 models. The price list at the time shows Pease' price as an extra $95 for the 2 oz. trigger option. A short time later, I paid $110 for the 2 oz. option.
