My rest is pretty heavy already with a large footprint. I haven't found a good way to add weight. I will post a photo of it in a sec. the footprint is 17" wide x 14" and weights 35lb. It has windage and vertical adjustments together right in front of the rear screw. I do use a rear steer rest with my heavy gun but sometimes use the adjustments on the front rest for more coarse adjustment like from the sighters to the target. so I don't want to cover them up.
I suppose that depends on how much weight you are willing to lug around.
My heavy gun is 56#, I use the Gary Alvey (AKA- Baer 3 piece rest system)
rest & am able to place two 25# bags of shot on the front plate between the threaded post & rear adjustment screw. Keeps that rear screw down when I’m trying to run fast.
Looking at your front rest in the photo, it looks like the threaded post (for the bag holder) is really forward on the plate which would make it more prone to tipping as you describe. No idea where you shoot & what the benches are like, can you add an additional steel plate underneath the current base that matches its contour but, also extends forward several inches?
Putting the rest on a longer plate would change your tipping fulcrum making it harder to lift that rear leg. The additional weight from the added plate would help as well. Just means you have to get some different leveling screws probably.

I guess you could extend the plate back as well and move the rear leveling screw back, leaving you more space to set weight between your windage adjustment and that rear leveling screw...?

my 17# gun moved my 18# rest 300 win mag.
when i went to a 35# rest, no movement.
i am adding the plate being sold here to add 20 # more.
the posts above seem to have you pointed in the right direction.
does the rifle lift easily straight up from the front rest ?
if it binds at all it will try to move the rest.

If your heavy gun tracks well, you should never have to touch the left and right on a front rest. I use the mechanical rear rest for left and right and the real screw on the base plate for up and down. If you are adjusting more then once or twice, something is wrong. That lets plenty of room for adding a bag of shot. You only need to use the rear screw on the plate. Banging the gun against the rest makes tracking hard by changing things. A good heavy gun should never come off the patch or even way less. Matt
