RESPONSIBILITY

I'm not sure that is the right word but in short, I think all of us, (responsible, ethical, honest, long time gun owners and operators) should be encouraging any and all new firearms buyers/owners to get good, BASIC, firearms handling and safe operation, training.

We should do our homework in our areas and find the best training facilities available and do everything we can to recommend, and encourage these new people to get involved in this training as soon as possible. But know of places to send them that you/we would go and pay to be taught. Not to some would be instructor who will take their money to stand up and tell war stories.

If necessary and whenever we can, offer to teach them the basics yourself at home or work etc.
Teach them proper stance, sight picture and grip with handguns for example.
I am talking to the men who bought my shooting range to see if they will let me use their training rooms to advertise basic training for $5.00 to a max of $10 per student just to cover cost and donate my time.

I have talked several times in the past few days with different firearms sales people, different stores and they tell me their gun and ammo sales are at an all-time high right now. Thats good, but how many of these buyers are absolute, complete novices at gun handling of any kind, (rifle, pistol or shotgun). Perhaps even go to these stores and give them the training facilities you would recommend and encourage them to suggest this training with every gun purchase.

If and when these people get into trouble with their new guns, we are all held under the light and face the consequences.

What do you think? I am truly and genuinely interested in your thoughts as most people here ARE long-time, knowledgeable gun owners and operators.

Yeah, I watched a thing here in NC on the news about gun sales and the shop owners were saying that 50% of the sales were to women, think that's a good thing we need all the anti Hillary we can get. I've ran into a few women in Walmart around the ammo counter and strike up a conversation only to find out that they are concealed carry and encouraging their daughters to do the same. I think they are wising up to the Obama gun control BS ;D

When my son and myself went to get our concealed carry here in NC the class was pretty thorough and they taught you all of that ,stance, hold , how to quickly acquire your target where to shoot , aiming techniques and 7 or 8 hours of basic law regarding when you could use deadly force and when not to , and also circumstances where you could intervene in somebody else's bad day. Then took use to a range and had to qualify, fun stuff and very informative. The women in our group seemed to love it, also the Deputy's teaching the class let the women know that laws were a little more lenient regarding women using deadly force being the fact that they were considered the weaker sex.
