Resizing Brass for 35 Rem?

Not surprising, but I haven't been able to find any new factory loads of 35 Rem....unless I wanted to pay like $5 per round....which, no thanks. I have some Brass from the ammo I have left, but that's not too much, I figured cycling through the same brass repeatedly was not the best choice. I have the other components, but no brass. I've heard of other people resizing other new brass into 35 Rem...was wondering if anyone here had done that, whether that was ill advised or not....since I'm relatively new to reloading as a whole, don't feel like blowing myself up.

I looked into it, from what I remember it can be done but extractor groove/rim has to be turned to match the 35 profile.
Too much work for me, I just keep browsing the web and buy fired brass, sort the best for hunting loads and shoot a mild load using Tac with the 180gn Hornady XTP pistol bullet in the " worn" brass for plinking. Out to 100yds they shoot POI close to my hunting load, 180 Speer Hot Cor with AA2460.
Just keep searching, brass turns up for sale occasionally.

This guy used to:

I'd say it's fairly unique...

You can make it from .308 Win but it requires machining the rim and the extractor groove. Then some resizing. You can find some guidance on YouTube and by searching the internet.

;)

Grumpa, over at Castboolits, used to make it from 308. Think he cut the re-cut the extractor groove and reduced the body.
He has been gone for a few years now.
Saw a box of leverevolution 35 rem. for $42.99+tax

Open an account a Castboolits and put a WTB in the classifieds. There is a lot of lever gun guys over there and you may hit someone that wants to sell or trade. If you have good trade items, it might help. Like small pistol primers or something that would loosen the tight grip on 35 brass. I have only bought once over there but it went without a hitch.

Yep, you can make 308 into 35 Rem ...I 308 made into 6mm ARC with a large rifle primer...but ya need a lathe. I ground a carbide tool on my diamond grinder to form the extractor groove and cut down solid head. In a lathe collet and blend out. Step size with homemade die trim to length in Bridgeport mill with dead lenght collet & lever closer. Then neck turn brass in your lathe with appropriate neck angle and radius geometry. Works every time...been making 30-06 & 308 into 8.6 blackout, but ya don't have to cut the 308 extractor groove...have about 200 cases made out of free brass...most already fired in chamber, and reloading them again today.

Hi! I just went and checked my stash of brass. I have 2 old Remington pump guns in 35 Remington so when I saw some brass for sale YEARS ago, I bought it all.
I just counted and I have 157 old once fired cases.
Here’s the deal: If you become a Gold Member, I’ll send you 50 cases.
Let me know.

PS: I see you just joined. Welcome to the forum! You won’t find a nicer bunch of guys than who we have here. Yeah, there are a few miscreants that cause trouble. Just ignore them.;)

What am I? Chopped liver? What do I gotta do? :D

The 35 Remington seems to have a unique rim size.
I load for a Remington Model 8 35 Remington.
I picked up a cherry condition Model 8 last Summer. I discovered I can't bump the shoulder back much or it throws off the headspace and primers back out. Laserbeam to 150yds 200gr Hornady RN AA2520. 2100fps.

So I went out and made 2 308s into 35 Rem...its quite easy with a lathe. Ground another carbide extraxtor groove form tool. Cut em down to length in mill, rough size in homemade die... turn extractor groove and head down to size...used a 350 mag die and Lee lube inside the neck and went from 308 to 358 in one pass ...started the bullet seat but die barely reached...finished seating in a bench vise...runout was .002 on the bullet...neck wall appears to not need turning in LC 308 brass. I didn't have 35 rem dies so the shoulder angle is off a bit ...but you can do it...emergency "plan A:" 35 Rem is close to 308, you could file the head down .010" for .200" and file the extractor groove. 010" deeper.
Trim to length and run through a 35 Remington die. If you were my neighbor I'd machine ya a few to get by, until they become available again.

I guess I shoulda stayed longer at the range. Bunch of punkin chuckers (slug gun guys) and lever-roonies (336 Marlin guys) were there. I bet I coulda found some 35 rem for OP. I cringe when they pick up the brass and toss it in the scrap pipe, which you have to have a key to open...

I could have sent it to him for postage plus hazardous duty pay

When your membership permits it, assuming there is a restriction, perhaps post a want ad in the classifieds.

Welcome aboard BTW. 35 Rem is a great caliber!

Yes, just joined, funny enough, it was because I saw another member on here selling the Lee Loader for 35 Rem, (which I am so happy they sold to a fresh new account such as myself haha) which I had been looking for, for awhile now, for quick reloads to test out different recipes, instead of setting up my press.
That sounds like a good deal to me! I just got my first Marlin 336 in .35 Rem in February, which also was kind of an accident, as I initially bid on it thinking it was a 30-30, ended up winning, not expecting to, then they ended up telling me they had labeled it wrong and it was actually a .35 Rem, which I was happy to have as well, love me some lever action!

I'd be moving on to the .358 Winchester in a Mod 99 Savage. Here's
a mold I made for a 358 bullet. Comes out to 186 gr #2 alloy. Purpose
was for the 35 Herret to knock over 200 yard steel rams. At the same
time period, 35 Remingtons were finding there way into Contenders.
