Resizing 22-250 to 6 Dasher or GT? Help!

Ok I think I got this.
im throwing a 243 lee die on the lathe and machining it down right to the shoulder taper.
what I’m noticing is when the two surfaces mate at the specified angle (30/35/40 degrees) basically you crush the case. So I’m going to use the 20 degree taper and set my ram to just taper the entire case about 2 thou off the shoulder/body junction. From there the brass should flow And form the shoulder nicely. we just successfully made bunch of cases out of 308 (neck need turning) however I think this might make the process easier and simpler. We failed with the 22-250. I envision this plan will work with 6 and 22 creed brass too. If it does I’ll go to the local cnc shop to machine them with the right diameter and angle so you can literally slam it home in any typical press, then trim, turn, and final size. (Probably trim again. I have 3 presses setup so this should be a breeze.

if it works well you saw it here first and I’ll probably open an eBay store lol!

I’d never mess with trying to make 22-250 into dasher. I do have brass for two 6-250’s and it was easy to make. For one barrel, 22-250 brass necked up. Stopid essy. Other barrel uses 250 Savage necked down and turned. Chamber neck size is .270. Did this back in ‘96 and only vaguely remember the 250 Savage case took a little more messing with, but I did about 1000 of them so it ca’t have been much. Doing it again ID just go 6 Creed if the brass is available there and be done with it. Alpha makes beautiful 6 dasher brass, don’t know if they can send it there or how much it would cost. My 6-250 is 12 twist and very accurate with 65’s and 70’s.

It can be done. It won't be as easy as fl sizing in one die though. I bought a set of Butch Lambert case forming dies years ago. You can make darn near anything with them.

Just use the 6XC. Then it's size and fire and you're done. The 6XC is actually the better cartridge anyway as far as I'm concerned. Certainly for a hunting application. The cartridge is the correct length for more most short acitons to work properly.

Thanks for all your input fellas.
I ended up going 2 comp guns in XC and a shorty / thermal barrel in XC also, I have the GT parts here also if I ever decide to go that way, and have a GT pre-form die coming. From my experiments I can very easily form creed and XC from simply running 308/243 through a FL sizer using vasoline as lubricant (Want can't it do.) with no dints.

I've got a neck turner and all that jazz handy to normalise whatever I shoot with available brass. (looking at ADI 308 and 243 brass.) - If you recall I waited 11 months just for some 6 or 6.5 creed brass recently... EFF That noise again.

I'm hoping the XC will be the same.
I'm sure the GT will form with the pre-form die from almost anything also... will keep you posted.
We might switch our thermal guns to it and both comp barrels when we wear them out.
Will let you know.
Cheers all.

You will love the 6xc. I doubt you will see a need to change.
