requesting pictures and info on B.A.T. bolts face & extractors

Folks,
I'm doing my homework before purchase and would like some pictures of the front of BAT bolts, I want to see pictures of the flat fronted bolts that come in the VR and HR models and pictures of the coned bolt nose that comes on other models. I'd like to know the advantage of each and disadvantage of each.

Second, I'd like to see the type of extractors BAT uses. Research indicates they use a Sako style on some models and the VR and HR models use a flat sliding plate. I'd like to know the again the advantages and disadvantages of each.

Thanks very much for your pictures and input
Jeremy

Why not call BAT for that information? It would seem that have that readily available and as they would like to sell you an action they will bend over backwards for you. And if they won't then, well, there are those who will.

I don't have any BAT flat bolts, but here is a photo of my SV bolt, 3 lug Mag & standard bolt, and 2 M models.......... The SV has the slider, and the rest use the Sako style...
Never knew the reason for the coned bolts over that flat style, other than they are a tighter fit....

Preacher,
Thanks for the pictures. I appreciate it very much.

FBecigneul: I have called BAT, they are busy people. To their credit they have answered every question I've asked.

My issue is I've a desire to purchase the VRPIC single shot. I also wanted it to have a coned bolt with Sako style extractor. The VRPIC will only be manufacured with the flat bolt face (not coned) and the standard extractor is the sliding plate (kind of like a post '64 winchester push feed extractor). I do think they said they would substitute the sako style for the standard sliding plate extractor though (still doesn't appear to be any real advantage or disadvantage of either style).

Just wanted to know if the coned bolt face alone was of enough value to warrant looking into another one of their models that utilizes that feature. Or if the integral picatinni rail and integral recoil lug would more than offset my perceived disadvantage of the flat bolt face.

Thanks,
Jeremy
