Shameless -I left a message with fish and game asking them if the 350 is legal in my area. If it is, I will go with the legend, if it's not legal I'll build a maximum. If I do a maximum I'll likely get a single shot bolt action.

Howdy, again !
A man of your capabilities could “ barrel stub “ a .357Max H & R, Henry, or CVA etc top breaks…. to give yourself a custom barrel upgrade on a useful action; even if only initially as a test mule.
Having a done’r action that was already a .357 Mag or .357Max would give you the correct sized extractor / ejector to begin with.
I have had an H & R SB-2 Ultra rifle in .357Max, a Marlin M1894SC .357Mag,
a CVA Hunter .35 Remington, a custom single shot Wichita WBR1375 chambered in my “ .358 AutoMag “ wildcat: and 2 Marlin M-336 .35 Remingtons…the current one an XLR.
H & R:
The H& R had nice quality laminate wood, but the “ blueing “ was near transparent, the trigger guard cheap plastic, the action release lever stamped steel. Moreover…. it was
THE most inaccurate rifle I ever had to work with. Could not get it to group at all.
CVA:
The CVA Hunter in comparison, has an action that locks up like a bank vault,
a reasonable finish on its metal, useful plastic stock & fore end: and a trigger that was easy for me to reduce the pull effort on. The action release is at the front center of the trigger guard. Begara makes the barrels for CVA. My borescope showed astounding machine work in barrel fit and rifling, somewhat to my surprise. I’ve just finished up on customizing my CVA, and should be taking it to the range soon.
Marlin:
The Marlin Owners forum says one could load a .357Mag w/ the bullet seated further out than it would be for use in a revolver. Mine operated well, shot well; and had a straight grip butt stock. Wood & metal finishes ( Marlin manufacture) we above average.
Other :
I have seen & handled a .350 Legend top break, but DK who made it. That particular rifle utilized an inconvenient RT side located action release, and had more of a Euro style to the stock. Camo colors looked almost molded-in.
With regards,
357Mag
