report from central Idaho -

After moving here from X city east coast 4 mos ago, finally broke out some pistols. Have a new Ruger MK IV 22LR & Kimber 9mm 1911 5" bbl. Plus long guns.

Good news. shooting 22 lr out on the deck -- backs up to BLM 25 miles - backstop.
bad news. it's -12 in the a.m. & there's a cat circling my house. It's a large cat...

Then there is the traffic jam. Moving cattle from pasture to another overwintering pasture? easily 500 beeves.

Told one of the cowboys (don't really know what they call themselves)-
I was craving a burger. he laughed.

Good to be here.

Ct10ring where in the NE were you located? I'm in central Ct. and the cold is killing me now, I used to be out doors all the time but now at 66 with bad back, knees that need replacing and other medical problems I am hoping in a year or two to go to S. Florida, maybe 20-25 miles inland from Port St. Lucie.

I know that area pretty well CT10ring, drew my first elk tag for the boulder white clouds zone in 2006. We took quads to Jimmy Smiths lake and did some fishing. There is an abandoned lead mine way up East Fork rd, if you stay right instead of going into the mining town (keep out signs) area there’s some really great hunting. We also spotted a small group of Billy Goats in the area.
The game warden stopped by camp, and asked if we had bear tags and I said I did and he said if you fill it and want a second tag he would be glad to give me a second tag! He also reminded us that hunting off of our quads was illegal, in other words no riding the roads and trails. Didn’t fill my tags that year due to a hip problem but you won’t find nicer country anywhere.
