Replacing magazine type

I have a Savage Mark II set up to practice PRS. I would like to replace the Savage magazine with a Ruger rotary magazine like on a 10/22. Anyone know of a gunsmith that’s does this type of work? Or even the bottom metal to make this work? Thanks, Tom.

While this may be unwelcome, but I'm going to say it anyway, because I myself thought it would be a good idea to modify a MkII many many years ago. It was a huge mistake, and I wish I could get my time and money back.

A savage MkII is not the pedigree of firearm that is deserving of custom work. Period. Secondly, anything is possible, but it's likely to be bubba-smithing at its finest. It would require modification of the mag port in the action, as well as a custom magazine hanger that will require custom stock inletting. By the time it's done, you'll have spent over $1000-$2000 at least, on a potato of a rifle.

I implore you, save your money, buy a higher pedigree rifle that is already what it's suppose to be.

Thank you for your honest and candid reply. I agree if the cost is in that ballpark. Unfortunately, this particular rifle is not typical of its brand. The only downside is the terrible magazines that are available. I wish some company like Magpul would make a replacement. This rig has served me well thru cases of subsonic rounds and many venues. Only in NRA smallbore do I select a different rifle from the rack. Know of any non Savage replacement magazines? Thanks again, Tom.
