Replacing Firing Pin Springs

How often do you replace your competition rifle's firing pin springs? And what brand/weight are you using?

Yearly on a r700 pattern bolt. Either remington or Wolfe springs. That is in my Panda actions.

Changing Barnard P firing pin spring

My Barnard P is 9 years old. Figure it's past time to change out the firing pin spring. Have replacement from Whidden. Not much info on the web. What I've found says I need to heat the cocking piece and set screw shown above to soften the Loctite and then screw off. I can't get the set screw...

As long as they test at 23-25# at cocked compression length - never.

I shot the same springs for 6 years with no issue. Just recently put new springs in to know if it made a difference, no difference on target, no difference in velocity and no difference in primer strikes.

Swap all firing pin springs over to the Tubb Duo-Springs. Check for burrs on the cocking piece and shroud raceway and make sure pin in the cocking piece and firing pin is centered in slot. This insures no drag on the firing pin fall. So far all is good.
