Replacement for RCBS Ammomaster 2

First at all

Hallo my Name is Bernhard
I'm from Austria
I'm 20 Year old, and i reload and shoot now for 2 Years.

At the Time i' shooting:
.17hmr, .204 ruger, .300 BLK, 7mm-08rem, .308 Win, .338 Lapua
And my first self made Rifle in .375 RUM
dscn0413143j4b.jpg

Not complete, some little things i have still to go (Ceracoat and Cheek rest)

Sorry for bad English, I will try my best :D

Four months ago i bought a RCBS Ammmaster 2.
I wanted a Reloading Press that is big enough for .338 Lapua Mag and .375 RUM, so i decided to take the Ammomaster 2 from RBCS.

First i was happy, no more fumble by Bullet seating, no more Powder scattered everywhere on the Floor ;D

But since the day i reload with that Press, my groups are significantly bigger than before!
So i checked the press and, could see that at the dead point of the stroke the Shell holder is 0,015 inch out of the Center from the Die, not that precise as i expected for my money :(
I have tried to fix that, but i'm sure a new Press is cheaper than repair the whole thing

So i'm looking for a new Press, where i can easily reload my .375 (350grn Sierra MK load) with OAL= 4.075", but i'm not really sure what i should take.

The RCBS Summmit?! The Redding Big Boss II or the Redding Ultramag but is it also all that money worth more?

Thank You

Any singlestage will do better than the one you are currently using. Like the rockchucker. I dont like turret presses to begin with so if you must go woth a automated press,my dillon 550b does an outstanding job.But if you want accuracy above all stick with a single stage such as redding, rcbs, etc.By the way your rifle that you made looks beautiful. Great machining work.To be accurate, slow down and take it step by step to achieve the highest level of accuracy.

+1... and don't worry about Engrish - we were born here and don't do that well ;) ;) ;)

Welcome aboard!
That is a sweet rifle! Did you build the stock?

I'm loading 375 grain Cutting Edge bullets in a 416 Rigby OAL 4.195" on a RCBS Rock Chucker with no problems. Its an 8lb T-C Encore will shoot 3/4" @ 100 yds off my lead sled w/ 60 LB of lead.

Yes i build the stock,
It's made of 7075-T6 Aluminium
3 modular Parts butstock, system and forend

I have also a bigger forend for benchrest shooting

I have used Various RCBS over a35 year period, they have been very responsive when I have had the few problems I encountered. have you email them? go to their web page www.rcbs.com and then the "ask rcbs" tab on the top right,

you may be surprised as they are usually fast to reply.

good looking build and stay in touch.

I have now orderd a Redding Big Boss II
A dealer in Germany had some in stock

I have not email them yet.
The last time something like this happened, i brought it back to may dealer to fix that for me, but the dealer i got my RCBS from doesn't exist anymore :P
Business did not go well for him :(

Just as a suggestion, check the notch on the ram where the shell holder mounts to make sure it's clear of even the slightest amount of debris or if there's a burr in the notch. You might also try another shell holder to see if the problem can be resolved that way. RCBS is extremely good about taking care of their customers. I know it's a long way to Oroville CA to Austria ... but if you have any means of contacting RCBS I am confident they will work with you to resolve the problem.

Got my redding Big Boss II today

Incredible precise compared to my RCBS and Lee Breech Lock

My RCBS is now on the way back,
The see, if they can fix it or I will get a new one

Thanks for the help ;D

Bernedti,
Welcome to the forum and to the world of shooting and reloading. Love your new build, really looks sharp! Your English is better then many who grew up here and your grammar is wayyyyyy better then most that went to school here for 12 years LOL. Anyway I way prefer my Redding's to my RCBS and I work for mother company to RCBS. You won't be sorry with it, for your smaller rounds if you want accuracy and a little more speed the Redding turret press is a very good one, I have two of them and make very fine ammo on them. Best of luck and hope to hear a lot more from ya. ;)
Wayne.
