Repeatable mounts

Looking to see if anyone has any input on mounts that are repeatable. I have an ar that I'd like to swap between a lvpo and a higher magnification scope without having to sight the rifle in each time.

Edited to add: I don't really care if it's a quick release type or not.

IIRC, Leupold has mounts they claim are repeatable but I've not used them. Perhaps someone will chime in on them. Quick detachable I think.

Found this link. Bases and rings on their site.

My experiences are with Spuhr one piece mounts, LaRue with QD levers, and LaRue w/out QD. Always the same experience: very small adjustments usually less than 1/2 in needed to re-zero at 100 yds after detaching and re-attaching the scopes. I think that’s good - my zero moves a little pretty often even when I don’t remove the scope due to component lot changes, bench setup, environmental changes, etc.

Edit - just remembered something important. If I detach a scope and move to a different rifle, I sometimes have needed to adjust the clamps a bit. To get the good repeatability I need to adjust those clamps back to their previous positions before re-attaching the scope to the first rifle, sometimes not that easy to accomplish..

If you have two scopes, and they have their own dedicated rings, and you mount them in the same exact rail location slots....They should remount pretty darn close to where they were previously. I'd suspect within a few clicks at 100.

To get even more accurate when remounting, bed your scope ring bases to the rail if your rings will allow it. Meaning, the bedding compound is adhering to your scope ring bases and not your rail.

I have a small CZ 527 and I use either the irons for small game loads or a scope for full power loads. In this use (only one scope being taken on or off) I bedded the scope ring mounts to the rail. Meaning I have bedding compound adhered to the rail. This way the scope always re mounts to the exact same spot. It's close enough to zero for my purposes where I don't bother to rezero it. It will hit any varmint under 200yards, which is what I want it to do.

This whole process is only valid if you don't have to loosen the grip on the scope tube to get the rings off your mount. I think it's my tikkas that have the thing where my rings mount directly to the receiver and with those, I have to loosen the tube clamp a bit to get them removed. The way to solve this is to install a pic rail to the receiver and use universal rings.

I've got these two very economical Primary Arms Cantilever mounts for switching these scopes. When I put the big scope back on it will be anywhere from dead on, to an inch at100 yards. What amazed me is that I spun the scope around 180 degrees in the mount and it was still -- dead on. I kind of quit thinking they're cheap azzed. jd

Thank you all for the input so far, have definitely given me some options to look at. I currently have the lvpo scope in an ADM 1301 mount since it came with the scope. It weighs 8oz though so I'm not thrilled about that aspect.

Any quality set of rings or 1 pc mount should be very repeatable if you torque the clamp screws the same each time. I frequently switch optics on my prs 22 for local bench rest with a sfp target scope. always within a click or two...and even that is probably more environmental than mechanical tolerance.

I have switched out scopes before, I use a high quality picatinny rail bases (Warne or Nightforce) and rings. Maybe a a click or two and back in business just to refine from the switch.

I did a quick test with a Spuhr QDP mount about a year ago. 5 shot group removing and reinstalling the mount between each shot and point of impact basically didn't change. I was shocked at how repeatable it was.

When changing scopes or red dots and maintaining zero has a couple of must do's. First is make sure you put it back to the original position when zeroed. Second is torque the fasteners to the same torque. Use a torque wrench, preferably the same wrench. Preset T-handles, like Seekonk, make it easy.

As noted, environmental or component changes can affect your zero.

ADM mounts are solid. Return to zero when remounted within 1/4 MOA.
What's the weight difference between your ADM mount and, say, a Warne?

FYI. Bobro QD mounts also return to zero.
The ADM weighs 8oz, haven't researched other brands weights. The lvpo scope will the the one that's mounted of the rifle the majority of the time. Most the time swapping to a higher power optic will be for load development, or possibly if I use the rifle for planned longer shots. Chances are of I'm planning longer range shooting though, I have a host of other/better choices so that's probably a non-issue.
