Removing Savage 12 FTR pillars

Too bad you may not have access to an arbor press.

If it was epoxied then high heat would break it down. If not epoxied then putting it in the freezer before trying to push it out may help.

Al,
Thanks for your input. It has shed alot of light on what to do to fix it.
I appreciate it. Thanks for everyone else's input. My guess is it's pressed. I will have to grind out old bedding to push out from top.

Mike, you can just carefully open up the bedding a bit above the pillar to knock it out. If you're careful, you can epoxy the pillar back in and do a touch up on the bedding.

Those factory pillars get loose because they have space between them and the action. When the screw is tightened, it works the pillar upward because of the gap.

Good shootin' :) -Al

Forgot to add...make sure you remove the bluing prior to epoxying. JB Original works good for this.
