Removing moly from bullets

Is there an easy way to remove moly from bullets or would I be better off by selling the moly bullets and buying naked bullets?

Acetone usually works well. If the tips are plastic, I haven't noticed any melting and such.

If you don't have more than a hundred you can try about anything listed above. I've used Dawn soap and water with what I think was OK results. If I had to do it over again, I'd sell em and buy the naked ones. That way ya know. JME. WD

Put your bullets in a pill bottle and some media in your tumbler the bottle will roll slow and that will take it off

In the past I purchased a lot of moly coated bullets at an attractive price so I began the search for ways to remove moly. After a brief period I ran across someone recommending a common household cleaner called Bar Keepers Friend, so I purchased a can. I mixed some with hot tap water in a plastic tub and added the bullets, put the lid on and shook it for a minute. Almost instantly the moly was removed! I was amazed. After wrinsing the bullets in fresh water I placed the bullets on a towel to dry. It worked great, was easy and inexpensive, I highly recommend Bar Keepers Friend for moly removal. I believe Bar Keepers Friend is actually oxalic acid.

Thanks for that jewel of experience. I recently bought some bullets like you did. I have a few cans of Barkeeper's in the basement storage. I'll try it.

I used BoreTech Moly Magic to take it off 500 Matchings once. I thought it did a good job.

Acetone and then a short time in a dry tumbler works.

Right, or dawn and water and then tumble with a bit of polish. You will never know they were moly'd.

You could of course use dawn and water in a rotary tumbler with pins for about 5 minutes and they would be squeaky clean and like new.
