Removing Bushing

Hi Gang,

I'm trying to remove a .271 TNi bushing from my,.243) Redding full-length die so I can use it in my 6BR's die when it arrives tomorrow. It won't come out! It's not stuck...I jam my pinkie up into the die and the bushing is rotating freely. It's being held in there by oil between the die and bushing. I've tapped and banged it on my palm til I'm sore and it won't budge. I've tapped it on the floor...carpet over concrete. It won't friggin budge. I've waited 4-5 MONTHS for the 6BR brass, which FINALLY arrived today!!,See my last post for exact timing  )) so I'm eager to get going on this...even though the gun is just being finished at the smith and is on it's way to McMillan this week...A2 stock is done and ready for inletting...but damn! What's with this bushing? I'd really like to accomplish this without hammering the .243 die...I'd like to sell the set, and soon. Any ideas?

Signed,
Desperate in the Springs,-Rod-)

Unscrew the decapping rod assembly and remove it completely. Stick a wood dowel or pencil, pointy side up) up from the bottom of the die. A gentle push should do the trick.

Disassembling it was the first thing I did. I didn't try the pencil though. Sticking foreign objects into orifices. Ugh. Not my thing. :nono: I'll give it a try though. Thanks. -Rod-

I usually use the retired bore brush that has stepped down to case neck duty. From the top, shove it through the bushing and gently pull it up and out.

That worked like a charm. It's obviously case lube that's worked it way under the bushing that was holding it. Thanks :) -Rod-
