Removing and plugging ejector plunger hole

Hi guys

Just looking around for info about removing and plugging the ejector plunger in a rem 700 bolt.

Im going to install a davidson single shot follower into the action and figure that chasing expensive lapua 6BR cases around the varmint fields isnt always desirable so wish to remove the plunger and plug the hole (if its needed)

Not sure if I could remove the pin and fill the hole with devcon steel putty, or insert a steel rod similar in size to the hole and devcon it into place... not too sure on this one.

I pull the pin, plunger and spring and leave the hole. I believe it's only a concern if you're running particularly high pressure. I also have cut the spring until it no longer ejects and left all the parts in place.

Filling the hole with Devcon is done a lot, but it's just as easy to cut the spring and leave it all in place just in case you'll need it someday...

No a problem, cutting the spring sounds easiest to me! Saves all the messing around with putty!

Thanks guys.

I have a .17 Fireball that threw rounds in to the next county. I bought the assorted spring kit and installed the weakest spring. Now they barely clear the ejection port and fall right next to the gun.
