Remove lube after loading

I use a universal deprimer, wet tumble with pins, anneal, lube and size, trim and deburr then before priming or loading do a dry tumble. I am retired so I have plenty of time for case prep. Also I really enjoy spending time in the shop and I am always looking for an excuse to spend more time sitting at the loading bench

Ohhh, you better be careful saying that in an open forum or a lot of use will be sending you all our brass to prep.

It's not so much that I dislike doing it, but there is definitely other things I'd rather be doing.

I concur with M-61, I don't need my cases spotless, just clean from any grit or lube. Brake cleaner and shop towels are a whole lot cheaper than a new custom die.

Micro cloth over the shoulder. When they come out of the sizer, I rub each and every one of them clean.

It's not so much that I dislike doing it, but there is definitely other things I'd rather be doing.

on the same hand there are many other things I would rather not be doing. Yardwork and honey do lists generated and supervised by my better half among them.

Honestly though I am not sure whether I shoot so I can reload or I reload to shoot.

about the same as I do,,vibratory with primers still in,,hate picking out media,size and deprime at the same time,,dump them into a sonic cleaner gets the lube off
and cleans out the primer pockets at the same time,,

When you say "vibratory", what is that? I have a tumbler with the stainless steel rods and a ultrasonic vibrator. Is it one of those? I don't have the corn cob media for the tumbler, maybe I should get some. I am now into reloading but not aware of the process. Thanks

"Tumble live ammo?" is an old, much argued subject. I've read both sides of the argument for a few years and both sides have their "facts". One side says the tumbling will degrade the powder's coating and change the burn characteristics drastically and pressures will skyrocket. Some say there's a chance of a primer being hit hard enough to fire the round in the tumbler. The other side points out factory ammo is tumbled as a final process to clean it and the military has shipped ammo in every means possible and all the vibration and jiggling have zero effect.

I read a test by a reloader that loaded up a batch of ammo. He shot some over his chrony and recorded results. He tumbled some for several hours (8?) then disassembled a couple, inspected the powder under a microscope and fired some over his chrony. He repeated this test up to a few days tumbling and testing. His findings showed no determinable change in velocity/pressures/accuracy.

I don't tumble my loaded ammo because it doesn't need it, they are clean when I'm done...

some one correct me if I'm totally wrong;vibrating tumbler,does just that,rapid vibration works corn cob media over and around your cases as they circulate in your bowl,its dry media,,
rotary tumbler uses a mix of water and ss pins,there like a rock tumbler.if you put cob media in the rotary,it may work,just my take a LOT longer,,and if you put water in your going to
get two things,,one big mess and some funky soup looking stuff. I've been using a Lyman turbo pro 1200 works great for me.

Thats the one I use. Great tool. I put it into a ice chest to reduce the noise level.

For years my only tumbler was a piece 4" of PVC with caps mounted on a lathe between centers using crushed walnut as the cleaning media. I bought a Frankfort rotary about a year ago and use it with dry for light cleaning jobs such as removing lube or polishing cases that were cleaned but have been stored for a while and are dull. I use it wet with pins for cleaning freshly fired cases with dirty primer pockets

OMG that's a lot of polishing. Lube, deprime/size, spray with break cleaner, let dry, Polish, load.
