Remote Power Source For Electronic Scales??

This technology has well passed me by. I have an electronic scale coming to assist in sorting reloading components and some powder-weighing. I want to run it on battery exclusively and am looking for suggestions on high-quality rechargeables to purchase.......The scale is a Creedmoor TRX-925..........Thanks for the input.

Regards
Rick

I have that scale, I was not aware it was able to run on batteries. To get it to run away from some sort of power outlet you would need a power inverter with a built in battery.

I'm sure other reloaders have delt with this issue before, but I'd try one of those portable power stations people for camping and tailgating. With those devices you tend to get what you pay for.

You could save some money and buy just the inverter if your vehicle is close enough to use the cigarette lighter.

I didn't quite know what I was looking for. I don't want to plug the thing into the house power. I was down that road with another " higher quality " popular scale and my humble abode didn't like it, even with a quality line conditioner. I think what you have suggested is what I am looking for......Thanks.

No need to buy an inverter to convert dc from a battery to 120 Vac and then plug the provided "wall wart" into the inverter to convert back to dc. Since the provided "wall wart" supplies dc power to the scale, all you need is a battery rated for the dc voltage the scale uses. That presents a little dilemma though - you might want to contact Creedmoor. My scale is marked 12V, the "wall wart" claims to output 6V and my voltmeter says it delivers 10.7V. Once Creedmoor tells you what the voltage really needs to be you should be able to run your scale on most any battery of adequate capacity. My "wall wart" is rated 100 mA and the scale probably takes much less; I haven't measured it. A battery sized 2 or 3 AH should run your scale for a few hours; perhaps as long as a half day.

Rick, what does it day here? It isn't clear enough to blow up the photo and read the text.

It will say something like X.X volts DC or something along those lines.

As often as not, we can then find you a rechargeable power pack that you can plug into and run the scale. Some of these can even be used while the power pack is plugged in and supply clean DC while being kept up by noisy AC.

Here is an example just to give you an idea. The one I have even came with a harness that has the correct size plug that runs the Chargemaster.

The unit should be here sometime next week. I will let you know what we are looking at.....Thanks

A lot of times the wall warts are not that well regulated. Might be 6v at 100ma but higher at less current draw.

If it will operate on 6v you could use a small 6v motorcycle battery and it would run “forever“!

I use one of these for my auto trickler 4. If there is power I plug it in and still run power through it for conditioning. Works well and has other uses.

From Creedmoor’s Q&A -

Is there a battery option for field use?

There is no provision for battery power. The scale needs a constant clean power supply.

Is it too late to cancel the order? Ad Ej54d2..runs 70 hours on 4 AA batteries. About 100 bucks more. .001 grain. Very sensitive scale.

This is the way to go. So many more uses than just a battery. Especially if you have frequent power outages, load at the range, tailgate, job site, camp, etc.

And you will get perfect sine wave conditioned power output.

I have the A&D EJ-54D2 and love it. Resolution in Low Range is 0.0002 grams (0.0035 grains) in gram mode, or counts by 0.005 grains in grain mode. High range is one digit less.

I was reading another thread, and @Jud96 mentioned he uses a specific portable charger. I googled it, and it looks like this might be a decent setup if the voltages and capacities line up.

It comes with connectors so you can use the 12V out. I'm not really sure if the numbers align, but here they are.

  • Output: 24V (29.4V-21V. Same Voltage Compare to 24V Lead Acid Battery) /5A Max. 12V/2.5A Max. (12V output voltage can maintain a constant 12V, but the 24V output port voltage is not constant.), 5V/2.4A Max. Input: 29.4V/0.95A. High battery capacity: 3.63V/ 42980mAh. 【PB240B1 24/12/5V lithium ion battery pack is constructed from high quality lithium ion batteries.】

Here is one that I use for a Chargemaster and for a Fx120i scale. You can select 5, 9, 12, 16 or 20 volts to match your item. I bought the matching plugs to my scales and laptop, made a connecting wire for each, and they all connect to the DC out plug. You can also charge your phone.
