Remington VSSF question

Hello folks,

Back in 2001, I bought a Remington vssf chambered in 22-250. It's time for a barrel now. My question is, are the actions on these guns stainless? Or where they painted a dull silver color? It's hard to tell. If it's stainless, I will just have my smith bead blast everything and call it good. If not, I'll need to cerakote evening.

Thanks
Matt

Varmint Stainless Synthetic Fluted to be exact.

Yes,the receiver, trigger group side plates, trigger shoe/lever,bolt handle & mag box are stainless steel.

Well, I thought to be "exact" it was Varmint Synthetic Stainless Fluted. Don't have the box anymore for the new 223 I bought new in Feb of 97 so I have no proof either of what Remington called them. The VS was 'Varmint Synthetic' so if stock description is first then....??

Yep, you guys are correct, the "SS" stood for Stainless and Synthetic, not stainless steel.
The OP may have been thinking about scopes being painted silver, since to my knowledge none has ever been constructed with stainless steel.

Varment synthetic stainless fluted. Yes, the action is stainless...I have never seen a factory gun with a blued reciever and a stainless BBL.

4Xforfun- ..I have never seen a factory gun with a blued reciever and a stainless BBL.

Early production(5,6 digit) 700's chambered in 264WinMag & 7RemMag had s/s Bbls in the white, later production Bbls were blackened & marked stainless steel.
