Remington vs Norma brass for 7 RSAUM

It is looking like my new RSAUM barrel must be a slow one.
The get to the speed where mine likes to shoot (2940 fps), the Norma brass gets hammered, showing ejector marks and scrapes, though primer pockets are not getting too loose just yet. A local shooter suggested Remington RSAUM brass as being tougher. has anyone tried the Remington RSAUM brass? Is it much tougher? I don't mind batching if I have to.

Just my .02..... norma brass is way way waaaayyyy better quality than remington.... if the pressure is that high but it likes that velocity.... i would personally look for a powder that gves less pressure but still can acheive thw same velocity.... then see how that changes things... i wouldnt think the brass is the problem or at least it wouldnt be my first tinker at all...

AH HA! It took only 1 reply to come up with the correct diagnosis! Good Man Sniper338!

So changing to one of the 3 other powders I rejected early on in load development is my only option then????

Only one other powder gave velocities the barrel liked but ES/SD was much worse.

Other posts I have read about Norma brass being soft lead to information about other case options, but I suppose in my case the Norma brass is not soft???

Thanks for the valuable information.

I'm running a 6.5 RSAUM using 7 SAUM norma brass and it will not hold anywhere near the charges others are reporting using Remington brass. I'm not flattening primers but I get extractor marks and loose primer pockets. I would love to get my hands on some Remington brass to compare to my Norma. I'm looking forward to the GAP 6.5 4s brass becoming available.

I used Remington 7RSAUM brass for years with no problems whatsoever. You do have to sort and prep it but afterwards it's just as good as anything on the market. Unfortunately there wasn't any available last time I looked. I do agree with sniper338's diagnosis about brass not being the problem. Since you didn't say what powder you're using, I'd suggest H1000 or something else in that speed range.

None of my new Norma brass will stand the strain that is no problem with plain ole Remington 7mm SAUM brass...
Even my 6.5 SAUM 35Ëš IMP will put stress on my Norma brass, that don't seem to bother the Remington brass...
I believe a lot of the reason is because the Norma brass has a bit less boiler room, compared to the Remington brass...

The powders I have tried are.
H4350. Great ES/SD but hammers my brass to much by the time I get it up to the node it likes.
VV N165. Still hard on brass (same as H4831sc) and ES/SD is not as good as H4831sc.
H4831sc. Good ES/SD, slightly hard on brass.
H1000. OK on brass but ES/SD is not so good. I can get it working very well at 800yds, but cant get rid of vertical at 1000yds.

If the primer pockets are not loose who cares about ejector marks? If you were only getting three firings on the cases I would understand the concern.

I dont know much more... I dont have experiance with this round... i cant find pressures... but reloader 25 may be worth a look...

if we are wrong and all the powders run that kind of pressures maybe it is worth just gettimg remington brass if it holds up better... your guys that run 7saums are better for info than those of us that dont..

There was a LOT of marketing hype put out there regarding the magical 6.5 GAP when others had been shooting a necked down 7saum years prior to that. Pay attention to what the rifle and brass indicate and don't be surprised when you cant quite reach those '4S' velocities.
