Remington V3 shotgun bolt cam pin

i know this is shotgun related but there’s also a lot of talented gunsmiths here. So I’m going to ask about a concern i have. Purchased a V3 shotgun and it’s as soft a shooting gas shotgun that i have. When i buy a firearm, i usually do some research before purchase and i knew that there will be no warranty with this one but i had to have it after hitting 25 of 25 clays with it. Anyhow seems v3 is prone to breaking / shearing cam pin off and the pins are hard to come by and parts are “ out of stock” as far as i can find. Some have several thousand rounds on their V3 with no problems but my luck - well my son duck hunts with it while he’s at college hours away and wanted to ask - has anyone had to repair a bolt cam pin on theirs ? Is their an aftermarket pin offered ? ( haven’t found one) or should i send a verse max back to school with him ? And let the V3 ride ? Pin is soldered in high temp from what I’ve read and not an easy fix if necessary. Anyone here had experience with V3. It really is a sweet shooting shotgun

Hello. I have TWO Remington V3's in 28" (one in Walnut and one in synthetic). Why do I have two? That's how much I like the platform (coming from shooting an 870 forever). The V3 points very similar to an 870. I purchased an extra walnut forend and stock set online so now I can covert from walnut to synthetic whenever I please. I bought these guns second-hand and have had them for just under a year with about 2,000 rounds through it. I shoot sporting clays and run 2-3/4" 1 or 1-1/8oz. target loads. I am familiar with two of the biggest gripes of this gun: 1) It blows back particles and gases onto the shooter's face. This happened to me the very first time I shot the gun. I took it apart, cleaned it, and lubed it. I never once experienced it again. 2) Bolt cam pin shearing off. I have read about this problem happening to some V3 owners, but it doesn't seem to be widespread with thousands of them being sold. If you are worried, you can buy the part below for about $10. There are gunsmithing services where they can fix it for you by welding the new part for about $100. But since a brand new bolt carrier is $100 on the same website already, I'd rather buy a whole new bolt carrier and keep it on hand as a spare. Other wear parts like the trigger group and firing pin might be a good idea.

Is the gun perfect? No. But for the price of ONE Italian brand gun, I can get TWO V3's and have an extra $500 in my wallet. And if I need to cannibalize one gun to use as a "parts donor" just to keep the other working, I'm STILL ahead. I am 100% happy with the gun design, recoil management, gas system, low price and reliability. I wouldn't hesitate buying it again if I had to!!!
