I have the same 24X BR scope from Remington, Ilion. I have the original rings that go along with it. I am looking for scope covers. I would appreciate it if anyone can point me in the right direction. It is beautiful and a nostalgic piece. There were only 400 produced as I understand it. Thank you for your assistance.I have a real nice 24X. Not alot of info on these floating around but some. Would like to read the PS article myself. My understanding is there was roughly 1100 made. The first 700ish were 20X's and then the 24X was added the last yr or so. So overall not alot of 24X's made. Mine looks near new and came from the estate of "a well known BR shooter" but the seller wouldn't tell me who.lol Mine has a dot reticle which might make it a bit rarer as most I see are standard crosshairs? It also came with a recoil spring which I have yet to discover if that were an option or add on after the fact. About all I have seen and what I read they were not sold with such???? Also found a set of original new 40X mounts that were made for Remington by Lyman.
Kind of a neat piece of shooting history. Price used to be $5-600ish but the last few yrs it seems they have become a bit more popular or higher in demand and price has increased but no written in stone prices it seems. Butch Lambert picked up a 20X and a couple 24X's a while back and I think he had one listed for sale just the last few weeks??? Also a 20X currently on GB with a starting price of $1500 which I find somewhat optimistic. They had a 20 or 24X awhile back with original shipping tube and all paper work and IIRC that had a $1500 starting price but don't remember if it sold or not?
About all I know about them. Need to get mine mounted this summer and shoot it a bit instead of covet it.lol
Respectfully,
Dennis
