Remington Hepburn A&M

I recently acquired a Remington Hepburn from the estate of an uncle ,old unk had been reloading most of his life and was really into wildcat loads. The Hepburn at some point had been re-barreled with a Bull barrel from the A&M rifle Co .Inc. in a " .17 A&M " I am trying to find all the info on this round as possible ! If any one can help it would be appreciated

Paul Marquart of A&M Rifle Company is credited with the development of the 17 Javelina, based on the .222 case with the shoulder pushed back and the case blown out. There is also a 17 A&M Bee. A&M was primarily a barrel company at one point and was capable of drilling that very small hole in a long barrel. A&M was originally in Prescott, AZ and I have read unconfirmed reports that it became part of HS Precision. Saubier is the place you want to look for details.

I have a beautiful 17 A&M Bee barrel for a Stevens 44 1/2 and a stock set, and an action. I’m going to try and get it together and fire a few 17 Ackley Bee rounds to get fired cases and have a FL size die made.

I’m looking for any info on it as well. It’s close to the 17 HeBee

Wow what a great looking rifle.
Please show us a couple more pictures when you get it together. With both the new and old stocks.

I’ll be sure and do that.

I bought the barrel and fore end not knowing what I had bought, but thinking it was probably a 17 Javelina rimmed using 222 Rimmed brass. It got here and it wasn’t that, but a 17 Ackley Bee dropped right in. The fore end was thrown in. It was black when it showed up here, but cleaned up nicely. It wasn’t a 17 Ackley Bee, the shoulder was too far forward. So, what is it? I thought perhaps 17 HeBee. Finally I stumbled on what it is.

I have three 44 1/2 rifles and figured on fitting it to one of them. Then the seller contacted me and ask if I was interested in a 44 1/2 stock. Yea sure, why not. It obviously was solid and I can always use something like that. It was a nice looking piece of wood from the get go, but nothing special at first. That nothing special kept getting better with each coat of Pro Custom Oil drawing more and more of the oxidized stain out. It is really pretty now.

One of my actions (the 218 Bee) has the barrel pinned permanently to it, one has a 219 DW (30-30) extractor, one has a Hornet extractor and I guess I have four, one has a RF block. I let it be known that I’m looking for another nice action and this came up. The stock is broken, but it has a nice 38-55 barrel on it. I’ll get some use out of it.

So, that’s where we are currently. I’m going to need a Bee extractor and I probably have the missing screws here. It surely can be up and running by March and chuck shooting season. I might not be able to reload the cases after they are fired until I get my die, but there’s nothing wrong with shooting fire forming loads at chucks.
