Remington CNBC Show Oct. 20th

I just saw this and thought I'd pass it on.....nothing more we need than bad publicity......

Jack Belk is a shill for the antigun lawyers. After he bilked an unknown amount of his custom gun customers by not doing work that he was paid for and not returning their rifles. He found he could make more money working for the anti lawyers. He is a piece of work.

Yup...........And all them Toyota gas pedal stuck and all them Audi 5000s just accelerated by themselves. Not!

I can even imagine how many Remington 700 rifles I've been around and how many thousands more we've all read about..........I've NEVER heard of one going off by itself. If this was happening, don't you think the internet forums would be loaded with stories?

Isn't the allegation that the gun will fire when the safety is released? I remember a segment on 60 Minutes or some other similar news show years ago about this same issue, so this isn't anything new.

It's not a "new" problem just rehashing the "old" problem....digging up the dead dog and kicking it again!

I've been on the line at an Match when a self serviced Rem. 700 went off when the bolt was closed, some thing that I'm sure happens more than you, me or any media would ever hear about. The competitor was very upset, thinking he had it set so that it wouldn't happen, but....it did.

Wow Is that an Old Story.
Remington did a product recall on all of those would be defective rifles. They changed the design of the trigger top bar added more glue
to the adjustment screws bead blasted the top sear bar and made the trigger accident proof, Now the press digs up this story that over 40 years old about some one who messed with their trigger'''
No wonder OBAMA is in office Pure lies by the press.
Brainwashing the public again. By the way General Electric owns
NBC

Sounds like an amateur gunsmith trying to make a Jewel out of a Remington. The Remington trigger can be adjusted but it is incumbent on the person making the adjustment to ensure that it has enough engagement to be safe. In my experience that puts the minimum wt. at around 2 1/2 lbs.

I agree that this is old news, but there are still a lot of rifles out there that may have this problem. I disagree that it can only happen when a trigger is improperly adjusted by the owner. That being said-
I bought a used Rem. 700 rifle with a defective trigger. I discovered the problem after reading about it on the forums. If the trigger was pulled while on safe, it would not fire. Ok, thats good. But now when the safety was released, it would fire. There is a possibility that it could have been tampered with, but I could not see any evidence of it. It had ample sear engagement and was not set too light. This trigger also had a tab on the safety lever which locked the bolt in battery which required the safety be released in order to unload the rifle. The problem only occured when the trigger was pulled while the safety was on.
