On a standard remington bolt, do any of ya'll have problems with the ejector pin pushing the cartridge slightly out of line so that the extractor can slide over the base leaving partial rifling marks on your bullet?
I took a Hornady OAL gauge tool and set my seated bullet 2 thousands shorter than the actual OAL.
I then made a spec cartridge with out a primer to use as a reference. Just to check it I took a sharpie and colored the bullet and chambered it.
I am getting rifling marks only on part of the bullet about 1/3 of diameter,,basically opposite of the ejector pin) the rest is all clear.
I was wondering if a sako extractor would be better and eliminate this slight tweaking of the cartidge when chambering or is the ejector pin really necessary?
This is a magnum rifle in a 40x small action, have to remove the bolt to remove a live round.
