I see Remington has FINALLY announced the new 700 Alpha 1....Can't wait to see one at a local shop.
Edit to add: I wish to thank those members here that had a part in this.......I hope Remington took your advice to heart and listened to you.

Brings to mind a (hypothetical, of course) spouse who was beautiful and charming initially but slowly becomes frightful. Despite repeated apologies and sincere vows to change their ways, the pattern continues. Maybe THIS TIME things will be different…

Another change of Remington ownership and management. Another promise of quality dedication. Heard it all before. Maybe THIS TIME things will be different…

I wish all the best for the "new" Remington.

I like it. I have a 700 that may get traded for one, depending on exact models and specs an the big question, price.
What they did with the 870 I was a fan of. The sportsman or whatever they call it came it at a higher price point and quality level than the express did, but lower rhan the wingmaster, which is just what I would want in a pump shotgun. If the price comes in between the budget models and the premium models It may be a winner. Where I see it price wise would be close to the brice of a tikka, if they can do that I think they will move some rifles and make some money.

Might be worth a try. A side bolt release! Finally!! There may be hope. Let’s see where they price them.

One thing I want to see is barrel lenths that match cartridge choice, 2506 or 270 should have a 24, most short actions should have a 20 or 22. Give me smart twist rates as well like they said. Also make a real short action, I like the 308, but I really dont want a long action 308.
Has anyone seen a list of cartridges available? Will they support traditional cartridges 270? 06? Or will it be only available in 6.5 creedmore, 6.5/300prc?

I looked at the hype and the one fix I didn't see was, captured firing pin and tight fitting firing pin hole. Most of the fixes look to be tacticool bolt knobs and bolt fluting.

Well, doesn't look like we'll be seeing any "newly manufactured" extractors for the 'older' 700s that are in circulation. Brownells quit offering the old style, riveted-in extractors some time ago. Have to depend on PT&G for the 'clip-in' extractors or there'll be a bunch more mini-16/m16 extractors installed. I have no idea how many 721s/722s and 700s are in circulation. Hope they don't change the 1100 piston and seal, where the 'new model' won't fit/work in the shotguns already in circulation. Extractors and ejectors are about the only other parts a 870 or 1100 might need if properly cared for to begin with.
