Remington 700 stock fit?

JohnD

Silver $$ Contributor
I want to switch Remington 700 barreled actions into a stock but when I put the one
barreled action in, the trigger housing rubs on the right side(bolt side) of the trigger cutout.
It looks like its off center by a good 1/8". Can I simply relieve the wood and call
that good or is there more to it than that? Is there any thing else I need to look for?

Thanks, John.

Just remove the amount needed and you'll be OK, unless that leaves a gap that the trigger guard don't cover that you don't want to deal with..

OEM inlet for an X-Mark trigger group differs from OEM Rem std/pre-2006 trigger group inlet.

(X-Mark "safety bellcrank" is external . .aka Jewell & requires more clearance)
(Pre 2006/std trigger group "safety" needs clearance fwd of aft action screw hole)

Question without starting a new thread....I have a short action remington 700 from the 70s, no prefix. normal period stock. If I put a varmint barrel on the action, do you guys think the stock will fit the action?
