Anyone have one what can you tell me about this rifle, very curious.

I think they are only made once a year. If they sell out and you miss it, you have to wait until the next year.

Here are two reviews:

http://www.snipercountry.com/inreviews/rem_m700_stainlessspecial5rmilspec.asp

They are going for right around $1,000 these days:

It's a very good gun in the tactical/sniper vein, if you like the stock. From everything I've read, they shoot really well. Notwithstanding the 5R rifling, it is NOT an M24 clone, if that's what your looking for, though.

However, if you're going to be spending $$$ replacing the stock with something else, like a McMillan, you might be better off finding a donor action from a used (and much cheaper) 700 action and have it blueprinted, or buying an aftermarket $700-800 Remington-pattern action like a Stiller or Surgeon, along with a nice aftermarket 5R barrel like a Rock or Obermeyer and build a true custom gun.

thanks for your reply I read all those links earlier today, accept the last one where they review the rifle snipercountypx where they say they shot 1/2 moa at 400 yards what is that in inches, I can buy that gun for 900

1/2 MOA at 400yds should be ~2 inches. $900 is a good price for that gun.

Dont not be afraid to grab one of these up if you get the chance!!! I'm shooting one that shoots with any custom gun I own...With Win Brass, 168A-Max, and RL15, this gun turns in 3/4" 5-shot groups at 300 yards on most days...The trigger is OK, not the best, but a very good hunting/tactical trigger....

I was very "Open mined" when I read where the guys were talking about this being a stock, true 1/2" MOA gun....It's better!!!

yes it should be here Monday, I am 63 years old want to shoot F-class TR for fun and now I can from what I have read best ut of box gun, so they say.

I think you would be MUCH better served with a Savage 12 Benchrest. Better stock (much much better stock) and much better match results. I do not own this model, but I have shot this model and love it and I do own a LOT of Savages and they all shoot very well.

Travelor,

You might be right I considered the savage F Class guns but I thought about resale a single shot gun can only draw competition shooters not many hunters want a single shot and there are more hunters then BR shooters, I feel this is a good start I can change the stock if I care to. thanks

Travelor is correct as well...The Savage is an excellent gun as well, and probably a better choice for 1000 yard F-Class shooting due to barrel lenght difference allowing more velocity. The 26" Rem will get you there as well with a 155gr, so no worries...For an multi-purpose gun, you'll be happy with your Rem 5R..

You'll have no problems!!! Enjoy the 5R...If you are comfortable working on triggers, you can work the stock trigger down a little or carry it to a good gunsmith...IT's a clean trigger, but a little heavy as it comes. Regardless, it's still a 1/2" MOA or better gun as it arrives:)

Good Shooting...

falconpilot, thanks , I read many articles say it is best out of box, trying to think what aircraft was called a Falcon can;t emember to save my life

for the money you cannot beat the 5R.when I do my part and the weather is OK my 5R will shoot a 1 1/2 inch group out to 500 yards.and I haven't found/seen one that doesnt like the bullets setted at 2.800 yet.and they all love varget or 4064 with a 168gn or 175gn smk.they all so clean out good with little cleaning.and just as some of the other guys have said the trigger is something you or a smith can easily work on to get it down to say 2#.

johnboy, that is what i read 2.800 168 and 175 smk i am looking forward to this gun like a kid getting a new toy , but isnt that what its all about TOYS thanks for you input hope i can duplicate that 1 1/2 at 500 that is super what kind of glass do you have?

falcon = Dassault Falcon Jet - French made....I'm running a 5.5x22 Nightforce on mine...The absolute perfect target/varmint/hunting scope...Took a nice eight point this year at 479 yards with it..JohnBoy is correct. I've tried jamming and jumping...Load the rounds to exactly 2.800 oal, and your good to go....I've had excellent luck with RL15 in mine..

yeh , new I new that plane just could not remember, did you fly it????

I was a jet eng tech from 1966 to 1970 USAF SAC 509th Bomb Wing my plane the Worlds Greatest Heavy Bomber the B-52 In the Worlds Greatest Air Force the United State Of America still flying today.

Well you sure have the best glass, and 2.800 it is just loaded 50 last night behind 42 gr of Varget I am going to try some RL15 I checked a burn rate chart close to varget and imr 4064 i believe.

Called Remingtom about breakin, going to be time consumeing, cleaning after every shot for first 20 second 20 after every other.

one more thing do you guys just fire form and neck size only or FLS i have both FLS and SB RCBS I like the small base die in my semi auto sets the shoulder back a bit but i do have a Lee neck collet die some say is great for run out purpose got that info from this web site

hey FM you might want to try 44gn of varget.this is what I use.but you shoot the load you want.and 43gn of 4064 will give you a good load also with a 168gnsmk.

my glass is a Leupold vx2 4.5-12x40mm with a 20 moa base.and the combo works good for me.but looking into a Sightron Slll.read alot of good things about them and liked what I read so really thinking about getting one.

and go withe Lee collet die.this is all that I use till I get some what of a hard bolt lift.and so fare for me the 200's and BR2's are my go to primmers.loading for the 5R is like loading for a plinker.one doesn't have to really do all of the benchrest stuff to get it to shoot.the basic stuff will work for a 5R.and my brass is rem brass.but it seems that any kind of brass will work.

and I even own a 5R in a 223,and it shoots just as good with a 77gn NCC with 25gn of 4007.and thinking about getting one in a 300wm.thats if I can sale the 300wm I already have to help with the cost. Gotta love a 5R they just shoot to good not to love one.

johnboy sure sounds good, i thought if this 5r is as great as everyone says i to will get it in 223 i will assume that in years to come they will increase in value, in 1970 i bought a 700 BDL in mid 80s sold it for double left handed 30-06, loading seems to be a snao for this gun, great news i got 400 168 smk and 300 175 smk so im good to go should be here tomorrow then i will go to indoor for first 50 rounds break in to cold to do out side.

well got rifle started to breakin and my ammo didnt work seems a bolt action does not take cases sized with small base full length die so i had to by ammo thought it would kill me i cant remember how long its been since i bought ammo , so i used a regular lee full length die tonight will try those loads in the morning, oh yeh, they went into chamber but could not pull bolt handle down
