Remington 700 SA Magazine enlargement

I have a Remington 700 SA .308 mil spec 5R which has a throat long enough that a maximum length round in the mag is about .040 off the lands. I would like to enlarge the magazine so as to adjust the cartridge OAL to get the bullet touching or closer to the lands. A response from any one with experience or ideas about how to go about it would be appreciated. I've considered removing the rear of the mag but have not yet made the measurement to see if this will provide the desired lengthening of if the round will be too far rearward to be engaged by the bolt.

Wyatts makes an extended box. Some milling on the reciever is required but it will give you another .100" of magazine length.

Will the trigger housing also need to be machined. Perhaps it might just be easier to buy a reamer and re-chamber the barrel.

No machining to trigger housing. Midwayusa and brownells have the boxes. I would think total cost for box and machining would not exceed $85 or so.
