Remington 700 SA DBM bottom metal question

I bought a used Rem 700 SA recently that came with what i have been told by a couple of people is a McMillan stock on it. It is a top loader and a bit of a pain to load with the Remington .260's I'm using, It does have trap door bottom metal. So like others i plan to make it a DBM just to load it a little easier. It is a G series action if that helps any. (This is my first Remington in many many years)

It looks like PTG has a good working unit now for it with the bugs ironed out of the early DBM's, so i guess my question is, is that a McMillan stock and is there anything else i need to consider before ordering the bottom metal ? I have included a couple of photos of the rifle to help as well. Thanks Guys

I cannot say if it is a McMillan, but do know, if your bottom metal has a tighter fit, turn gun upside down and look at action screw area, the stock will need to have some inletting done to accommodate a DBM system. Not sure if you can do it yourself or need a smith. Most DBM's not a drop in fit.

As others have said, the stock must be inletted to fit whichever bottom metal you decide on. I would take it to a reputable gunsmith for evaluation and advice.

I like Hawkins Precision’s DBM bottom metal.

I can’t help you with the stock ID as I usually make my own. I can say that I use the PT&G M5 Stealth exclusively because it’s a fine product and functions flawlessly for my Remington 700s. If you’re shy of doing some inletting, I’ve heard there’s an outfit that will install theirs for free if you buy their bottom metal. I just can’t drag up the name right now. Good luck! Josh

Thank you everybody! Phil wins the bubble gum cigar. I have no problem doing a little inletting on the stock but i wanted to touch bases with those who had already done it. So it looks like the Pt&g DBM does still need some work. I appreciate all the help everybody.
