Remington 700 pic rail 8 40 screws?

I had a 700 sa rail holes fixed and enlarged to 8 40, what do everyone like for a rail for the 8 40 screws and where to get one?

I had an issue where I drilled and tapped a Remington 22LR target rifle and the net gave me a drill size that when tapped had almost no threads as the number drill size was 2 digits too big. I called the tech guy at EGW and he told me that the bases they sell had the right size counter bore for the bigger screw heads. So he send the bigger screws and I already had a tap and just had to enlarge the bottom holes to fit the bigger screws. You might ask him or others how much is involved to make it work. The counter bore on bases is flat and hard to duplicate with out tooling ( at least for me).

I think EGW gives you you the choice now of 6-48 or 8-40, both have the same size head.

I guess I'm fifth for EGW.

As an aside, I had my R700 rail holes enlarged for #8 screws after I got to the range and found that 3 of the #6 screws had snapped. That didn't do wonders for groups.

Don't exceed the torque specs and blue locktite on my stuff. Never came loose with my SS 300 WM with heavies.
