Remington 700 detachable magagine

I have a Remington 700 LA in a 300 win mag. The factory detachable magazine only holds 2 rounds with the bolt closed on an empty chamber. The stock is inletted for the factory DM which has a release button on both sides. If I used a Badger floor plate and magazine, I will have to change stocks. Is there a replacement for the factory magazine that will take 3 or more rounds?

The only reason youd have to change stocks is cosmetics. If you cant stand those cutouts then youll either have to fill em and paint or get a new stock

Youll have to be sure your new magazines can feed. I know the AI can as thats what i use on most. The HS works the same way so im guessing the badger does too

As Dusty says, the cutouts will be a cosmetic issue only. I've installed badger bottom metals and you do have to enlarge the inletting quite a bit but otherwise there should be no problem installing in your current stock. --Jerry

Another option is to move away from the DM and go to the BDL bottom metal will give you another round or 2. --Jerry

Of the few 700s I've seen, with factory detatchable mags, there's no conversion to BDL style. The rails have been machined away and the BDL magazine will not contain cartridges. It'll just 'spit' 'um out, willy nilly.

700 Remington Deluxe model w/ factory detachable has cut outs for the magazine release in the sides of the magazine. The inlet is not the same as a BDL inlet. A little modification inletting, filling with polyester filler and resin then a little sanding and painting and your stock is finished.
