Remington 700 action

I have a Remington 700 SS single shot action with serial # starting RR that I’d like to know if the bolt timing is correct or not. Looking for someone that could help with that. Thanks

I Built four F/Class Open Rifles on them did a Small Firing Pin and Trigger Replacement. I made Mid and Long Range High Master, Won three Regional Medals and a 450 Palma .
They are Bad. Still Shooting them today.
Some people at Ranges will look down there noise at " He has a Remington Action "
Have Fun............

I agree with the statement that the vast majority of shooters who by Remington 700’s don’t even know a problem exist.

If you sent one back to Remington, they would test it with their Factory ammo, and tell you there is no problem.

The World that is represented on this Web Site is an entirely different World. We tend to look at things not as they are, but how they should be.

Who can I get to fix this problem?
What the heck are your goals for this action? What purpose do you intend to use this action for? I have not seen a single RR that isn’t functional. As Jackie alluded to they may not perfect in our eyes but they are certainly functional for 99% of the masses they were made for. In actuality the RR’s were far better than the previous 700’s especially if you bought one as an action only.

I know several people with them. There are 3 that i know of with issues. Those 3 were blueprinted. All the others that were not including 2 of mine work just fine. My brother in law has 4 that are fine except his blueprinted one. Its extraction thats the issue on all of them.

Clickers, failed extraction or what?
I think the most common problem is the bolt handle is not put on in the correct spot for primary extraction. When wrong the handle comes up and doesn’t contact the angled cam surface up there that starts the case extraction as the bolt moves. If it’s not correct it just comes up and sits there until you force the bolt backwards. This takes all the smoothness out of the design.

I have yet to see an RR with this problem. All have had plenty of primary extraction.
I was told more than likely there’s a timing issue with most of these actions
I would bet you can use your RR just as it is. You still haven’t stated what you plan to do with this rifle.
