Remington 700 .204 loading problems

My father recently bought a Remington 700, the lower end model with a heavy varmint barrel, in .204 and is having problems picking up the rounds out of the magazine. I was wondering if anyone else has ran into this issue and if so, what did you do to fix it?

Neer had issues with my 204s but the 17 remmy and fireball do cause some loading issues. Check to make sure the magazine follower is in the magazine correctly. Sometime mine moves abit and causes loading issues.

My .17 Fireball has problems loading sometimes. A little bit of lube in the right place on the follower & box usually cures the problem. Also check & see if you have any burrs on your follower. It might need a touch up with some emery or a die file. Hog

I had trouble with my LVSF in 223 doing the same thing. i fought and fought with it...finally bought a new follower and it cured it...i never could figure out what was wrong with the original follower...it looked fine but once i stuck that new follower in it fixed it. I have also had problems with another rem. 223 and it ended up being the magazine box. i changed it out also and fixed the problem. i tried bending the mag. lips to try to make it work but i only mad it worse

I purchase a Remington 243, SPS, with the heavy varmint barrel, that had the same problem. I called
Remington and explained the problem, they sent me a new follower and spring( at no charge to me).
Installed them and everything is working fine. Customer service was great.
