Remington 6X47 Loading Data

Jagermeister

Silver $$ Contributor
I am looking for loading data for the above caliber. I am planning on using Vita Vouri Powder. I have N130, N133, N135, and N140. I have some Sierra 70 Match bullets that I am going to try. I have some new and some once fired Federal nickel plated cases to load. I have a 3 die Bonanza set. The rifle is a mint 40XBR with a factory 24 inch barrel. I will appreciate your knowledge and information.

Watching closely as I also just picked up a very nice 40XBR in 6 x 47 remington.

If you're referring to the 6x222 mag try this....6TCU
6 TCU loads might give a conservative starting point and ideas for powders. Case capacity of the 6 TCU is less than the 6x47 Remington due to the parent case capacities.

Currently, I've been shooting IMR4198 and a Hornady 58 gr VMAX in my 6x47 Rem. Like @Jagermeister I'm shooting a 40-XBR. The relatively slow twist of these guns restricts them to lighter bullets. When my stash of IMR4198 is depleted I'll be looking to something else. I haven't seen it available for quite a while.

Thank you everyone for load info. I am going to load the Sierra Match 70 grainers and might start with H4895 or possibly N133. The big question now is how to scope it. I have the older Bausch&Lomb 6x24 on a .222mag. that I could share with the 6x47. I do not have the target blocks and could use them. I have several leupold straight 12x's which would be a easy route to go.

Here's some "old school" DATA from Speer Reloading Manual #9: 70Gr. FB HP:
1) IMR-4895: min. 24.0 Gr. - Max. 28.0Gr.
In my youth, H-4895 was the preferred version - the charge weights are pretty interchangeable. The N-130 & 133 should work well. Good shootin'! RG

P.S. I forgot - for bullet(s) of equal weight, you can safely use .222 Rem Mag. DATA - the larger [6mm] expansion ratio will create less pressure than the .224 barrel. Just start low and work up.

I too have a Rem 40X 6X47 and mine has a 1-12 twist factory barrel. I have been shooting 80 grain Berger flat base but now they have become unobtainable. I shoot the 60 grain Sierra hollow point for varmints as well and they proved very accurate. The rifle has performed admirably with 68-70 grain match bullets as well. My powder now is Benchmark but LT32, and H322 have also worked. My starting load for these 3 powders is 26 grains with a CCI BR4 primer in a Remington case. I neck turned the cases to .012" neck thickness which is enough to clean up the brass. Check the twist on that barrel it should be a 1-12 twist. I'd recommend a 36X scope for target work or that 6X24 B&L should also work.
