remington 6 br

Does anyone use remington 6 br brass and can I use the same load data as I do with laupa brass. I will be using it for varmint hunting.
Rick

I don't understand. Have you already worked up your load using Lapua brass and want to change to Remington? If so, you will have to work up the load again. I personally use Remington 6mm BR brass from the start. I shoot it in a Remington 40XB Rangemaster.:thumb:

What I have is 200 new rounds of lapua brass and 100 new round of remington brass. Can I load them the same and expect the same results or will I have to work up two different loads because the flash hole size difference.

According to what I have read you can load the Lapua much hotter. You can use the Rem brass just drop down to mild starting loads and work up. If mild loads are all you are planning on using for hunting then the Rem brass should do fine.

Guys, the difference is mainly the Remington brass has a larger flash hole thah the Lapua brass.,I know, you knew that)

The pressures should be pretty close - just the amount of pressure reaching the primer is going to be different.

I would suggest that you try a load at 2-3 grains less powder and see if the primer is doing OK and then start building your load up to the Lapua load and stop when the primer is starting to look "distressed". Might want to switch to a primer that is considered harder such as CCI.

When I built my 6mmBR last winter I used a Remington specs reamer. I was unable to find Remington brass in my part of Canada so I ordered 100 Lapua brass. I find them tight in my chamber even after several f.l. resizes they still require a shove to chamber far enough to close the breech block on my Ruger #1. I suspect more that the touch hole is different.

It is my understanding that the Lapua brass is slightly larger in diameter just ahead of the extractor groove. You may want to try using a Redding Small Base Body Die 6mm BR,Bench Rest.) Midway carries it in stock,Midway number 380009.) Redding's number is 74317.:thumb:

Thanks Dennis, I looked into that last month & found out Canada is not on the "most favoured country" list anymore & most firearms related stuff can't be shipped without a federal license it seems. I decided I'd rather stick with the snug fitting cases as they'll last a lot longer. It doesn't take a 2-ton jack to get the case into the chamber, just a good poke with my thumb works fine.

It's been known for a long time, that if you change ANYTHING in a reload you should start from scratch again..
