Remington 6 1/2 small rifle primers should be renamed

Holy cow! Holy crap?

Why would Remington call their 6 1/2 primers, small rifle when they are not suitable for probably the most popular small rifle cartridges out there?

Is it possible to use these primers in low pressure 223 Remington loads?

I am sitting on 5000 of these thorns and feel that are are no options, beside selling them.

Shoot them in a bolt gun. They don't work with floating firing pins from what I've heard, I shot about 100 of them through a break action 223 single shot.

You can always give them to me, I'll even be a nice guy and cover hazmat for you :p

There is a guy on Gun Broker has 5000 of them, and he wants $749.99 minimum !!!!

Ok, so I will start the bidding @ $499.99. What a bargain.:p Just kidding about the price.

May have to sell these things as I only own one bolt bun that is chambered in .223 Rem.

Gunnut606,are you for real!!! Thats insane, unless somebody actually gives him that much for them....

You were advertising primers here for $200/1000.

This is an example of how important it is to consult a reloading manual and actually read it through. I was aware that Rem. 6 -1/2 primers were designed for Hornet size cases when I received my first reloading manual.
DO NOT ASSUME ANYTHING in reloading.
Would you arbitrarily use Lil Gun, or Reloader 22 in any .22 cal cartridge because of it's name?

Man I wish I hadn't read this, I've been using them in several 223 bolt guns without a problem for years. Now someone tells me I shouldn't be doing this? Several of these rifles shooting in the 2-3's. When I think of the 1000's of PD's I've wasted using these primers in the hot prairie dog fields, the egg shoots, and those plaques on the wall I won.........it's all meaningless now. Bet you get plenty of offers for them, huh?

Just goes to show....what works doesn't matter. You learn the REAL truth on an internet forum. Thankfully, guns can't read.

Someone mentioned that those primers will be fine to use in bolt guns, as your experience has shown you. The Rem 6 1/2 primers are not suitable for firearms with floating firing pins, such as my,7) AR15s.

However, there may be a bright spot in this debacle. My XCR,positive) and my friend's SIG556,pretty sure) do not have floating firing pins. I'll start off low and work up. 5000 primers will not last long in these two carbines.
