remington 541 bolt lift

Is there a way to make the bolt lift easier ? I have it lubed and lube on the part that cocks the firing pin. But it hasn't helped much

Is it a "t" or a "s"?

I ran a file and then a Dremel on my receiver to take out the ruff edges on my 541T , seemed to help a bit.

It is a 541 S custom sporter

I have both models. The "S" has a much tighter chamber and the bolt closes harder becase the rifling is engaging the bullet in the chamber.

the problem with mine is after you fire a shot the bolt is hard to lift because it is cocking the firing pin for the next shot. Is there any way to fix this ?

I’d say the only thing to lessen the force would be a weaker bolt spring, but that could bring on other problems.
I have an S in very good condition that hasn’t been fired in over 10yrs, I need to get her out again.

Rebs , it’s a 60* bolt lift , make sure the lugs have grease and the cocking ramp

This - if those are dry it will increase the bolt lift a lot

Thank you, I will grease them both more. Will polishing the cocking ramp help ?
