Remington 40xb br 7.62 Nato

Hi,

Have the opportunity to pick up a good value Remington 40xb br 7.62 Nato.

I'm struggling to find much info on this model, I'm planning to use the action as the donor for a FTR 1000yds rifle.

I'm looking at a .308 30" barrel, but seem to be struggling on finding a suitable stock.

It's single shot so the majority of Remy 700 stocks would need to be a "false hinged mag plate".

Any thought, experience or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Tireur,

THe BR models should be a single shot, short bbl,22 or 24 inches in length) and the original stocks were wood with a wide flat forend. If a 24 inch bbl, that would do quite nicely for 600 to 1000 yd shooting with the right bullet.

They were designed for shooting off a rest with sandbags hence the flat forend. I believe that the FTR class shoots off of bi-pods, correct?

If you have no need for the stock, don't butcher it, sell it. They are a very saleable item. You can then mount your bbl action is any Rem 700 stock. You will have to fit the bbl channel to meet you bbl contour and perhaps fill the mag well for additional stiffness.

Hope that helps.
