Remington 40X

A local store has a Rem 40X in 222 on consignment there for $1795. Granted it is VERY nice original condition but its not the US version with the dull finished stock. Also has the rail on the bottom of the fore-end and has the hand stop included. It seems a little on the high side to me, and I bought a 40xb single shot in the HS or B&C stock recently for considerably less. After looking on Gun Broker and Guns International, the store rifle isn't over priced and I got a screamin deal. Are the 40x rifles bringing bigger money these days or are the sellers just gouging? I'd love to have the 222 but I feel it may be a little over priced and I may just not have a clue what they are selling for these days either.

I'm no expert either but your probably are correct. All I know is I'm a sucker for them. LOL Never had one that didn't shoot good.

Definitely seems high to me. With single shot Remington actions available you could build a very nice rifle with a custom barrel for that kind of money. Just my personal opinion.

Make an offer that you can live with and see what they say, consignment guns are negotiable. You've got nothing to lose.I have been very lucky doing deals this way and in a few years you will feel like it was a good deal.Nothing is getting cheaper ;)
Building one your way is an awesome idea too like Paul said :)

40X prices, especially for pristine ones with good bores have been quite high for a few years.
that price is high average, so to speak.
40 XB is less desirable.
