Remington 40x rimfire NF 1960s

Have a chance to buy 40x bought in 60s not fired,4 digit serial # starting with a 5 I only got photos today and have not seen gun yet any idea's on vintage,721 or 700 action and what would be fair price to pay for a gun like this

I paid $1600 for a practically unfired 40X single shot with a 4 digit number beginning with a 3. The gun came with an ANIB Lyman SuperSpot scope and a fitted wood box with the original iron sights and factory instruction booklet.

I would think that the pictured gun would easily be worth $1200.

What intreges me about the pictured rifle is the floorplate as on a Model 700 BDL. Never seen one with a floorplate - but I am not a 40X expert by ANY MEANS. Is the gun a repeater?

That rifle is identical to the one I shot from 1971 to the early 1990's, floorplate and all. They're single-shots, that was a very early 40X, straight handle. I got mine used in '71 and looked after it well. I don't know about prices, but it was a fine rifle.

The reason for the floor plate is that it incorporates the trigger guard. It, and the straight bolt handle are found on the 722, the predecessor of the short action 700. At that time there was no ADL version, so they used the one piece sheet metal production part from the 722 for the single shot 40Xs.
