Remington 30 AR necked to 6mm

Has anyone done this yet? It looks to me it would make a great long range rifle . It has more powder capacity than the 6mm AR turbo and 6BR and will still feed from a AR15 mag . I just finish my 30AR and really like its performance on wild hogs and would like something for long range coyote hunting in my AR15. I thought about getting a 8 twist barrel and having a reamer made form Dave Kiff. Thanks! Mark

I felt the same way-would like to know if anyone has necked it down to 6mm and what kind of velocity's they are getting. Larry K. Victoria, Tx.

Great idea, although I haven't tried it. Seems that it would be better than the 6AR Turbo with its very short neck. Also better than the 6BR solution that results in very thin metal on the upper receiver barrel thread.

Isn't the 30AR upper and BCG a weird hybrid of AR-15 and AR-10? Can you even get parts like barrel extensions and bolts without having to buy a complete upper or gun from Remington?

I built my 30 AR upper using a special bolt and extension made by AR performance . Check it out on there web site . The barrell extension is built so the thread tenion is 1 inch long and also bigger in dia with # 20 threads instead of #16 threads on a regular AR 15. I have to turn the rim dia down to 308 bolt face on the 30 AR brass . The rim dia is .492 and I turn to .472 . I went ahead and ordered a reamer from PTG and plan on building one so I will keep everyone posted on how it performs. I went ahead and did a no neck turn with a 37 degree shoulder . We will see ! Thanks! Mark
